Paste your domains, pick your current registrar, and see the honest per-year and 5-year saving from moving each name — calculated from live pricing, never guesses.

We only prefill .com renewals we've verified for the six registrars above. Everything else is your number to enter — we never guess what you pay.

Why the numbers hold up

Real prices, honest math.

Renewal traps hide in the gap between a teaser first year and the renewal that follows. This calculator prices the move the way you'll actually pay it.

Live pricing only

Every target price comes from Nomlen's own registrar pricing database — the same data behind the TLD price table. Nothing is hardcoded.

The right target per TLD

Each extension is priced at the registrar our pricing table recommends for holding it — the best register + renewal pair, not a house favourite.

Transfer math, done properly

A transfer includes a 1-year extension at most registrars, so the 5-year cost of moving is the transfer price plus four renewals — not five.

Negative savings shown

If moving a name would cost you more, the calculator says so. Some registrars are already cheap — we won't dress up a bad move as a saving.

The move itself

How to transfer without downtime.

Five steps, in order. Your DNS and nameservers are never touched, so nothing breaks while the billing moves.

1. Unlock the domain

At your current registrar, turn off the transfer lock (sometimes called registrar lock) for each name you want to move.

2. Get the auth code

Request the EPP / AuthInfo code for the domain. It usually appears in the registrar's dashboard or arrives by email — keep it private.

3. Turn off WHOIS privacy

Privacy protection can hide the contact email the transfer confirmation is sent to. Switch it off for the move; you can re-enable it — free at most good registrars — once the transfer lands.

4. Start the transfer

At the new registrar, enter the domain and auth code and pay the transfer price. That payment includes a 1-year extension on top of the time you already have.

5. Approve the email

Confirm the transfer approval email. Most transfers finish in 5–7 days, and because your nameservers carry over unchanged, your website and email never go down.

Not sure who to trust?

Price is only half the story. Our Registrar Honesty Scorecard grades the big registrars on renewal traps, hidden fees and documented checkout behaviour.

Transferring, explained.

No — it extends it. At most registrars a transfer adds one full year on top of whatever time your domain has left, so you never lose paid-for time. That's why this calculator counts the transfer price as covering your first year at the new registrar.
Not when your nameservers stay the same. A transfer changes who bills you, not where your DNS points — your nameserver settings carry over unchanged, so your site and email keep working throughout. Most transfers complete in 5–7 days with zero downtime.
Two cases. First, within 60 days of registering the domain or of a previous transfer — ICANN rules lock it, and the transfer will be rejected. Second, in the final few days before expiry: renew where the domain sits first, then transfer once it's safe, so the name never lapses mid-move.
When a quote shows a plain price, it's the target registrar's own published transfer price from our pricing database. When it's marked with ≈, the registrar's transfer price isn't the cheapest on record for that extension, so we estimate it from their registration price — most registrars price transfers at the standard registration rate, with the 1-year extension included.
For most common extensions the transfer fee equals one year of registration at the new registrar, and that year is added to your existing expiry date. The exact amount depends on the extension and the registrar you move to.
Most transfers complete within about 5 to 7 days. Approving the confirmation email from your current registrar promptly can finish it sooner.
No. The remaining time moves with the domain, and for most extensions the transfer adds a further year on top of the existing expiry date.
It is risky: start well before the expiry date, because a transfer that is still in progress when the domain lapses can fail. Renewing first at the current registrar is the safer option if only a few days remain.
