FAQ

Brand checks, explained.

Enter a brand name and it checks three things at once: whether the .com, .io, .co and .ai domains are available, whether the matching social handle is free on Twitter/X, Instagram, GitHub and YouTube, and whether the name carries trademark risk based on famous marks and USPTO records.
We check each platform's profile URL directly — a 404 means the handle appears free, any other response means it's taken. Platforms occasionally rate-limit or change behavior, so treat 'unknown' results as 'check manually' rather than a definitive answer.
No. It's an automated screening tool that checks a list of famous trademarks and runs a best-effort USPTO lookup. It cannot see unregistered common-law rights, pending applications in every jurisdiction, or industry-specific conflicts. Always consult a trademark attorney before making business decisions.
High risk means your name is identical or nearly identical to a famous trademark — owners of famous marks can block use even in unrelated industries through dilution claims. Medium risk means there are USPTO records or close matches worth investigating. Low risk means no major conflicts were found.
Five full checks per day per visitor, free, with no account required. Each check runs live domain, social, and trademark lookups, which is why the limit exists.
Try variations: add a short prefix or suffix, swap the TLD (.io and .co are often free when .com isn't), or use Nomlen's AI domain generator to brainstorm brandable alternatives and check them here in seconds.
You can still launch on another extension, but a mismatched domain and handle make the brand harder to find and remember. Many founders tweak the name slightly until the domain and the main handles line up.
Securing the .com plus one or two close alternatives (such as your home-country extension) is cheap insurance against confusion and copycats. Registering every extension is rarely necessary.
Not automatically. A free domain says nothing about trademarks: an existing registered mark in your field can still block the name, which is why the trademark screen matters.
Prefer the one that is shorter, easy to spell after hearing it once, and free across the domain and social platforms you will actually use. Test both on a few people: if they cannot spell it back, it will leak traffic.
