New TLD Launches: Dates, Sunrise & Alerts

When a new top-level domain (like .eat or .fly) is introduced, it goes through launch phases: Sunrise (trademark holders first), Early Access (premium-priced open registration), then General Availability (standard pricing for everyone). Missing GA day can mean losing your ideal domain to someone faster.

On October 7, 2026, ICANN published all 1,616 applications for new generic top-level domains from the 2026 round — the applied-for strings, applicant identities, and contention sets. It's the first public view of which TLDs may launch over the coming years.

Sunrise is the first launch phase, reserved for trademark holders registered with the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH). It typically runs 30-60 days and lets brand owners secure matching domains before the public. Most new gTLDs use 'Start Date' sunrise — first-come, first-served.

Early Access (also called Landrush) is a short window — usually 5-7 days — between Sunrise and General Availability where anyone can register, but at premium prices that decrease daily. It's for buyers who want a name badly enough to pay extra to skip the GA rush.

All three Google Registry TLDs follow the same schedule: Sunrise ran September 1 to November 9, 2026; Early Access runs November 10-16, 2026; General Availability opens November 17, 2026. Our radar tracks these dates live with countdowns.
